Nasarawa United team

...Earn  point against Wikkis Tourist in Bauchi

The Solid Miners continued with their unrelenting push for a continental spot, going four straight games without defeat as they played out a 1-1 draw against hosts, Wikki Tourists FC, at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, on Sunday evening.

New signing, Chimezie Victor, silenced the home fans in the 28th minute to put Nasarawa United in the driver's seat on match-day 24, before Jonathan Mairiga levelled matters, seven minutes later, for the 'Big Elephants' as Wikki Tourists are nicknamed, as either sides went into the break tied at 1-1.

Nine minutes into the resumption , the home side missed a golden moment to claim the lead as Ibrahim Shuaibu struck the upright with his ferocious penalty kick.

Series of efforts on goal to alter the scoreline by either sides proved unproductive as the high-stake game also watched by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu and other Nasarawa State delegation, ended 1-1 apiece.

With today's pivotal result, Nasarawa United have further narrowed the gap to just a solitary point behind the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League's current leaders, Rivers United, who have 41 points, but with lesser games played. Wikki Tourists, on the other hand, are now 13th on the league table, with 28 points, from 24 games.

The Solid Miners will return to Lafia where they will host Bayelsa United on match-day 25, on Sunday, 8th February, 2026, at the Lafia

Post - match reaction

Stephen Moga coach /NAS): "We are thoroughly pleased with the manner in which our charges displayed unyielding fortitude and tactical maturity, thereby securing a hard-earned point against a formidable regional rivals, Wikki Tourists here in Bauchi.

"Though our goal was to get the maximum points here because we have did it in the past, our performance, however, is still worth the path on the back.

"Going four games unbeaten is not a bed of roses, and I strongly believe this result will certainly bolster our resilience and reinforce our relentless aspirations of mounting a serious title and continental challenge.
