...orders three home games behind closed doors
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a total fine of ₦5.25 million on Doma United over security failures and supporters’ misconduct during their league match against Kun Khalifat FC on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The Gombe-based club was found to have breached the league’s framework and rules after failing to provide adequate security, allowing unauthorised persons to enter restricted areas during the encounter.
In its disciplinary action, the NPFL also held Doma United responsible for the hostile conduct of their supporters towards match officials and members of the visiting team’s delegation.
The league further cited gross misconduct by the club’s supporters towards an official of Kun Khalifat FC after the match.
As part of the sanctions, Doma United were fined ₦3 million for repeated failures to provide adequate and effective security at their home games.
The club was also handed a ₦1 million fine for the hostile conduct of its supporters towards match officials, while another ₦1 million penalty was imposed over the misconduct directed at the visiting team’s official.
In addition, Doma United must pay ₦250,000 to cover the medical treatment of Kun Khalifat FC head coach, Obinna Uzoho, who sustained an injury during the incident.
Beyond the financial penalties, the NPFL has ordered the Savannah Tigers to play their next three home matches behind closed doors, citing repeated breaches of security requirements.
The league has also recommended the demotion of the match commissioner to a lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, insufficient supervision and inadequate reporting of the encounter.
The sanctions come with a warning to Doma United to strengthen security arrangements at their home matches and educate their supporters on acceptable conduct. The club was cautioned that further violations could attract more severe penalties.
Doma United have 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.
Reacting to an enquiry from SportsMarketing, Doma United confirmed that it had received the league’s disciplinary notification but said it was still reviewing the document.
“Thank you for reaching out to us. We can confirm that it is true we have received a notification confirming the fine.
“However, we are still studying the document and will soon release a statement with regards to it.” Doma Utd said.
