Yan Diomande
Liverpool are preparing for life after Mohamed Salah, with reports indicating that the club has prioritised a move for highly rated winger Yan Diomande ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old attacker has caught attention following a standout season at RB Leipzig, where he recorded 13 goals and nine assists across 36 appearances. His performances have positioned him as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
Diomande only arrived in Germany last year from CD Leganés in a deal worth around £17 million, but his rapid development has significantly increased his market value. Leipzig are understood to be open to negotiations, though only for a substantial fee.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the teenager has now become one of Liverpool’s leading transfer targets. Reports suggest the Bundesliga side would demand in the region of £87 million to sanction a move.
Despite being under contract until June 2030, Diomande has openly expressed his ambition to play at the highest level. Speaking earlier this month, he acknowledged that links to elite clubs serve as motivation to elevate his game, even as he remains focused on his performances on the pitch.
While Leipzig chairman Oliver Mintzlaff is believed to favour keeping the young star, Liverpool’s strong interest—combined with a significant financial offer—could test the club’s resolve.
With Salah expected to depart, Liverpool appear intent on investing heavily in a long-term attacking replacement, and Diomande has now emerged as a central figure in those plans.
Do you think this is a perfect replacement for Salah?
