The organizers of the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) have officially announced that the 2026 edition of this exciting sporting event for all Nigerian universities will take place in November.

The University of Calabar, located in Cross Rivers State, will be the proud host, with the kickoff ceremony having taken place on Monday, January 19, at the Senate Chambers of the University.

Flagging - off the NUGA UNICAL 2026 Games, a delegation from NUGA, led by Acting President Dr. Ajibua Michael Alayode, along with Secretary Mr. Yunusa M. Bazza, Technical Director Prof. M. G. Yakasai, and former President Prof. S. S. Hamafyelto, presented the NUGA Games flag to the Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong.

This ceremony marked the official start of preparations for hosting NUGA UNICAL 2026.
