In a major development for Swansea City FC, Croatian football icon Luka Modrić has officially joined the club as a co-owner and investor.

Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished players in Real Madrid’s history, Modrić brings a legacy of success that includes six UEFA Champions League titles, six FIFA Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga championships, two Copa del Rey wins, and five Spanish Super Cups. On the international stage, he has been awarded the Ballon d’Or, The Best FIFA Men’s Player, and led Croatia to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final, becoming his country’s most capped player.

Modrić’s involvement is expected to significantly boost Swansea City’s global profile and support its growth, both on the pitch and behind the scenes.

Speaking on his new role, Modrić said: “This is a fantastic opportunity. Swansea is a club with deep roots, passionate supporters, and a clear ambition to reach the top. With my experience at the highest levels of football, I hope to contribute positively and help shape a promising future for the team.”

Swansea City CEO, Tom Gorringe, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We’re thrilled to welcome Luka as part of our ownership team. He’s an exemplary figure in the world of football, and his support aligns perfectly with our aspirations. His commitment and insight will be invaluable across all levels of the club.”

The club’s board also shared their excitement: “Luka’s passion for the project was clear from our first conversation. There’s strong alignment between his vision and ours, and we’re confident he’ll be a tremendous asset to the ownership group. We look forward to seeing him at the Swansea.com Stadium soon.”
