Manchester United have reportedly identified Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler as a possible replacement for Michael Carrick if the club decide to change their managerial leadership.

According to The Sun, United remain supportive of Carrick despite the team's difficult start to the season, having suffered four defeats in their opening nine matches.

Hurzeler, 33, has attracted attention for his work at Brighton, guiding the Seagulls to consecutive eighth-place finishes in the Premier League. His team's performances against Manchester United have also strengthened his reputation as a potential candidate for the Old Trafford job.

However, any attempt to bring the German coach to Manchester could come at a significant cost. Hurzeler recently signed a contract extension with Brighton that runs until 2029, potentially strengthening the club's negotiating position should United make an approach.

Brighton owner Tony Bloom has indicated that the club are prepared for possible approaches, although no appointment decision has been confirmed.

Hurzeler is not the only manager reportedly being considered as a potential option. Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, Antonio Conte, Kieran McKenna and Eddie Howe have also been linked with the Manchester United job.

For now, United's reported interest in alternative candidates comes as the club continue to back Carrick, leaving the manager's future dependent on how the team performs in the coming matches.
