President of the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied  Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC), Prince Abayomi Ogunjinmi, has backed Rangers International to secure victory over Sobemap in the second leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie in Benin Republic.

Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by the Benin Republic champions at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, on Sunday, leaving the Nigerian side needing an outright victory in the return leg to progress to the next round.

Despite Rangers' failure to secure a home advantage, Ogunjinmi remains confident that the Flying Antelopes have the quality and experience to produce a positive result away from home.

“Rangers will finish the job in the second leg in Benin Republic. The Benin Republic champions were lucky to have escaped with a 1-1 draw in Abeokuta.

“The game is not over yet because Rangers have more quality and experienced players than their opponents,” Ogunjinmi said.

The ANFASSC president, however, identified finishing as a key area Rangers must improve if they are to secure qualification.

He urged coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his players to be more clinical in front of goal, particularly when opportunities arise from the long throws of defender Itodo.

“The major task before Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his players is to improve their finishing and make better use of the goal-scoring opportunities created, especially from Itodo’s long throws.

“If they can convert those chances, I am confident Rangers will get the result they need in the second leg,” he added.

The return leg in the Benin Republic will determine which of the two sides advances to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
