Erling Haaland has expressed deep appreciation for former Pep Guardiola, praising the ex-Manchester City manager for transforming both the club’s mentality and his personal development.
The Norwegian striker, who has enjoyed remarkable success since arriving at City, reflected on Guardiola’s relentless pursuit of excellence in a touching post shared on X.
Haaland noted that Guardiola constantly pushed his players to improve, regardless of victories, trophies, or individual achievements, describing the manager’s standards as extraordinary.
According to the prolific forward, Guardiola created an environment where success became an expectation rather than a celebration, while always challenging the squad to aim even higher.
“A coach who never stopped teaching. It sounds crazy to say this, but you made greatness feel normal,” Haaland wrote.
He added that even after major accomplishments, Guardiola continued demanding more from his players through new lessons and fresh targets.
Haaland concluded by thanking the Spaniard for the impact he made on his career, describing the opportunity to work under him as a special privilege.
“The honour of a lifetime to work with the best. Thank you for everything, boss,” he added.
