Manchester City are increasingly optimistic about securing the services of Elliot Anderson,
as competition from Manchester United intensifies for the Nottingham Forest midfielder.

The 23-year-old, who has attracted strong interest from both Manchester clubs, is understood to favour a move to the Etihad Stadium. Sources indicate that Anderson has privately communicated his desire to join City during the upcoming transfer window, despite United’s resurgence under manager Michael Carrick.

Buoyed by the player’s stance, City officials believe they are in pole position to complete the transfer and are preparing to negotiate a deal in the region of £65 million with Forest.

The Premier League champions are keen to finalise an agreement ahead of the upcoming World Cup, wary that a standout performance from Anderson on the international stage—particularly in the United States—could significantly inflate his market value.

Meanwhile, Anderson is reportedly ready to part ways with Forest at the end of the season, regardless of whether the club retains its top-flight status.
