Laporta discussing with Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick 


Newly re-elected Joan Laporta has revealed that Hansi Flick is set to remain in charge of FC Barcelona, with a contract extension expected to be confirmed soon.

In an interview with RAC1, Laporta said the club is keen to tie down several key figures, including striker Robert Lewandowski, sporting director Deco, and on-loan forward Marcus Rashford, who is currently with the Catalan side from Manchester United.

Laporta, who officially resumes office on July 1, disclosed that an agreement has already been reached in principle with Flick, with plans to extend his stay until 2028 under a flexible structure that includes annual review clauses.

He emphasized that continuity on the bench is crucial to the club’s long-term ambitions, noting that Flick’s understanding of the game and strong connection with the team make him a central figure in Barcelona’s project. The president also suggested the German tactician could remain at the club for several more years, citing his energy and comfort in the city.

Beyond the coaching situation, Laporta expressed a desire to keep Deco in his current role, praising his resilience and professionalism during a challenging period for the club. He highlighted the strong working relationship between Deco and Flick as a positive factor for Barcelona’s sporting direction.

On Lewandowski’s future, Laporta indicated that the veteran striker would be offered a new deal if he is willing to continue. He added that the Polish forward has adapted well and complements Ferran Torres in attack, though the club remains open to reinforcing the squad if necessary.

Regarding Rashford, Laporta acknowledged the forward’s impact, pointing to his goals and assists, and confirmed that Barcelona intends to open discussions with Manchester United over his future.
