Manager David Moyes believes securing European football could significantly strengthen Everton’s ability to attract top-quality players in future transfer windows.
The Everton boss admitted that recruiting players during the previous summer transfer period proved challenging, revealing that many targets were reluctant to join the Merseyside club at the time.
According to Moyes, the club’s recent difficulties played a role in discouraging potential signings.
Reflecting on the experience, the Scottish coach said he was surprised by how many players declined the opportunity to move to Everton despite the club’s efforts to bring them in.
He explained that the situation surrounding the club made negotiations difficult, noting that several players he approached ultimately chose not to make the switch.
Moyes also pointed out that many elite players prefer clubs competing in European competitions, which often influences their transfer decisions.
Because of this, the manager believes that qualifying for continental tournaments would improve Everton’s appeal in the transfer market and help accelerate the club’s rebuilding process.
He suggested that reaching Europe could make future recruitment easier, though he acknowledged that competing on multiple fronts would also increase the demands placed on the squad.
Nevertheless, Moyes insisted that participation in European competitions remains crucial if Everton are to attract the calibre of players needed to strengthen the team in upcoming transfer windows.
